She began her journey in the beauty industry as a makeup artist but came to CBBC to gain more skills and expand her offerings and qualifications.

We sat down with her to chat about her journey, what’s next for her in this exciting industry. and how CBBC has been there to support her along the way.

CBBC Career College: Megan, thank you for taking the time to chat with us this morning. We’re really excited to hear about your experience in the programs thus far. To start off, could you just kind of highlight the program that you’re in and when you’ll be graduating?

Megan Paradis: Sure. My name is Megan Paradis. I’m in the aesthetics program here at CBBC Regency Salon and Spa. And I will be graduating at the beginning of July.

Amazing. And what got you interested in this program? What made you want to start your journey here?

I decided to start my journey with CBBC because I’m actually already in the beauty industry. I’m a licensed makeup artist, and I just really wanted to expand my knowledge within the field. I like that aesthetics gives you a few more options and room to grow. There’s a lot more within aesthetics than there is makeup. So that’s kind of what brought me to aesthetics.

Amazing. And being in the industry previously, and I know you’re only a couple of months in, have you been able to discover new skills that you’re going to find useful once you’ve graduated through here?

CBBC has actually given me a lot of new skills! I find it’s very in-depth. We get communication skills, we get career-building skills on top of all of the skills that we get within the beauty industry itself.

A well-rounded education is something that we’re so proud of and we’re really glad that you enjoying it. What are you looking forward to most for the rest of your program?

Honestly? everything that CBBC has to offer! They have a great ability to make every chapter in the textbooks interesting. And everything we venture into is just full of excitement. And I love that the instructors are so passionate about how they teach it so it makes us passionate about learning it. I don’t think there’s anything that I’m not looking forward to.

Amazing. Tell us, how have the instructors been able to help support you during this program?

The instructors here are very encouraging. I love that they give you constructive criticism, but they cheer you on more than anything. They’re there for support, and not even just with school-related things, but they’re very much there for support if you’re struggling a little bit in your personal life, or if you’re just having an off day. You come into this place to make friends and you end up leaving having met a whole different family. It’s amazing. I love CBBC and the instructors. As I said, you go from friends to family, and you leave with people that you’re going to talk to for the rest of your life.

That’s great to hear! I’m sure you’re inspiring a lot of people to start this program and make a change in their lives. What would you bring up to someone who might be on the fence about this program?

If I had to tell somebody why I would choose CBBC over anywhere else, and this program, in particular, I would say because it’s an ever-growing field, there’s so much room for self-discovery within this industry. You can decide that you love gel nails out and you can specialize in gel nails. Or if nails aren’t really for you, then maybe you love waxing, and that’s where you can specialize. And I find CBBC really helps you find your path and where you’re going to flourish and blossom as an individual, which is very beneficial. And I think that’s what kind of separates CBBC apart from other schools.

I know a big question a lot of students have going to any program is prospects after graduating. What kind of insight can you help us with there?

So when it comes to your journey after leaving CBBC, the possibilities are literally endless. For me personally, I intend to continue building on my own business. However, I mean, you can work within a spa setting, you can open your own business, you can specialize in certain aspects. You can even further your education! If you like waxing, then you can learn threading and sugaring. There’s just so much potential for where you can go within the beauty industry. And CBBC really makes sure that you see all of those pathways and where they can lead you to. So for me personally, I’m going to stick with building on my own business, and they give you the tools to do that as well. We learn business building and the structure of businesses. So it’s amazing.
