Catching up with our graduates is always fun, but when you can easily see the impact that CBBC Career College has had on their lives it’s a really moving experience. Brian MacMullin is a CBBC graduate who credits his education and our college for his current job (which he loves!) at BDO Canada Limited.

 ”I can really only speak for myself, but I would not be working for BDO Canada Limited if it had not been for CBBC!” 

Powerful stuff right?  Keep reading to learn more about Brian, his journey, and how CBBC gave him the confidence and contacts to get the job of his dreams!

Q: Hi Brian! Thanks so much for chatting with us about your journey with CBBC. Just so that everyone knows where you started, what program did you take at CBBC Career College?

Brian MacMullin: No problem! I took the Administrative Assistant program and am forever glad that I did!

Q: Well that’s a great place to start! What specifically made you choose CBBC for your education?

BM: When I was looking for courses, I had a basic background in business and the course material seemed to round out and fill the gaps I had in administration. I had heard wonderful things about CBBC Career College so that made the decision of where to attend really easy.

Q: What were you seeking to gain from your education (new employment opportunities, growth in your current role, etc).

BM: I was looking to enhance employment opportunities in administration. I already had a good background in business but I just needed a bit more knowledge and education on my resume to give me a push into a new position. 

Q: Did CBBC provide what you needed to meet your goals?

BM: Yes, as I was able to find excellent employment after completing just my Administrative Assistant program! In fact the company that I did my work term for hired me when my program was completed. It was fantastic to continue to work with a group of people who already knew my work ethic and skill set. 

Q: How has your life changed since graduation?

BM: Well I would have to say it has changed my life significantly! Thanks to my education I have steady employment (with benefits!) with BDO Canada Limited. It’s a  great company to work for with tons of  opportunities to grow and advance. It’s not a job, it’s a career andI love what I do for a living. 

Q: What skills and abilities specifically did you gain at CBBC that have led to your success?

BM: Well as I mentioned I knew I had gaps in my information, and when you have gaps you lack confidence. CBBC helped build that confidence. I would never have applied to BDO Canada Limited thinking that such a professional firm that deals with accounting, assurance, and debt solutions would not have a position for my skills. Not only was I able to gain employment with BDO Canada Limited, but I was able to  advance in knowledge and skills and in doing things I would never have attempted before!

Q: What advice would you give to someone who is considering a program at CBBC Career College?

BM: CBBC offered the chance to learn and apply what I learned. If you work at it and  study hard, CBBC will do its part and help you grow and gain the confidence to try something that you may never have thought that you can do! We live in interesting times. Why not take the chance and see what CBBC can do for you? I can really only speak for myself, but I would not be working for BDO Canada Limited if it had not been for CBBC!
