Summary of the position
The Community Support Worker Program Instructor is responsible for balancing their expertise and experience to deliver education services to students through:
- Delivering instruction that meets module and program objectives as set out in the curriculum
- Preparing lesson plans and teaching aids that utilize a variety of teaching methods to promote student success
- Monitoring and discussing students’ progress with them individually and as a group
- Assigning and posting grades
- Supervising work placements

- Documenting and Reporting
- Interpersonal Communication
- Contemporary Issues in Disability
- Health & Wellness for the Caregiver
- Exceptionalities I & II
- Individualized Planning
- Household Management
- Medication Awareness
- Health and Personal Care
- Disability and the Aging Process
- Nutrition and Menu Planning
As modules in this program are diverse, the following qualifications will be considered:
- Community/Residential Care Worker Diploma with 24 months’ experience OR
- 60 months’ Occupational experience in a relevant setting (Group Home, Small Options or Residential Care Facility)
- Teaching experience and/or possession of an instructor’s certificate (Adult Learning) is an asset
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including presentation and group facilitation skills
- Ability to motivate, engage and inspire students
