Bursaries, Increasing Wages, and MORE for Early Childhood Educators and Students!
Do you love children, pride yourself on your ability to think on your feet, and want to work in an active and dynamic workplace? If so then our Early Childhood Education (ECE) program may be for you! Â
Early Childhood Educators work with children in their ‘early years’ generally between six weeks and twelve years old. It is their job and responsibility to help kids develop and learn. ECEs support their emotional, cognitive, social, and physical needs while teaching them to develop skills that will last a lifetime.Â
Amazing opportunities for ECEs
The province of Nova Scotia is recognizing the incredible role that Early Childhood Educators play. As such, they have announced a major wage increase for qualified personnel working in licensed day homes and daycares! This is thanks to new provincial investment and the federal government’s contribution under the Canada–Nova Scotia Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement.
Most of the 2,600 early childhood educators currently working in Nova Scotia will see a wage increase in the range of 30 percent, retroactive to July 4, 2022.
This is of course great news for anyone who is currently working as an ECE, but it’s ALSO great news for anyone who is currently in school or thinking about going back to school to become an Early Childhood Educator.Â
With only a year of training with CBBC Career College, you could have a rewarding career as an Early Childhood Educator, earning these new wages and taking advantage of all of the benefits that a career as an ECE has to offer.
Start a career in ECE in January or March, and be eligible to apply for a bursary of up to $5,000!
As if the great new wages for ECEs weren’t enough, there’s even more. You may qualify for a bursary of up tp $5,000!
Bursaries are available through the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development for up to $5,000* paid in installments over the duration of your Early Childhood Education diploma program. Priority for funding will be given to students who identify as belonging to an underrepresented group within the sector (e.g., persons living with a disability, 2SLGBTQIA+, Newcomer, Acadian/francophone, Mi’kmaq/Indigenous, Black/African Nova Scotian, or another racially visible group). Please contact your post-secondary institution for details.
* For new students who qualify and continue to meet the eligibility criteria. Second-year students will be eligible to receive a percentage of the bursary.
