We’re proud to share that CBBC Career College’s Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) graduates have yet again achieved a 100% pass rate on the national certification exam from the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS). This outstanding accomplishment not only reflects our students’ dedication but also the strength of our faculty, curriculum, and hands-on training approach.

Why CSMLS Certification Matters

CSMLS certification is more than just a credential—it’s a mark of excellence recognized by healthcare employers across Canada. It demonstrates that graduates have both the knowledge and the practical skills to practice safely, competently, and professionally. By earning this credential, our students are entering the workforce with the confidence to succeed in diverse healthcare environments.

How Our Students Outperform the National Average

At CBBC, our students don’t just meet this standard—they surpass it. Why?

  • Expert Educators: Our faculty are passionate professional medical laboratory assistants and technicians who go above and beyond to prepare students for success.
  • Intensive Prep: We run a 3-day, exam-focused boot camp before students sit for the test, setting them up to excel on exam day.
  • Accredited Program: CBBC offers the only nationally accredited MLA program in Nova Scotia, ensuring our students receive training that is recognized and respected across Canada.

What Students Learn in the MLA Program

Our MLA program is designed to blend theory with practice, giving students the tools to thrive from day one on the job. Training includes:

  • Professional Skills: Clinical laboratory procedures, medical terminology, and laboratory mathematics.
  • Career-Ready Certifications: First Aid and CPR as well as TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods), NVCI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention), WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System), and OH&S (Occupational Health & Safety) certifications—ensuring they’re fully prepared to work safely and effectively in clinical and laboratory environments..
  • Patient-Centered Learning: Unique to CBBC, our Patient Partner Program connects students directly with patients, caregivers, and advocates—fostering empathy and preparing them for compassionate care.

A Bright Future for CBBC Graduates
