Cosmetology and Aesthetics: Perfect For Budding Entrepreneurs!
CBBC Career College is THE place to start your career in the beauty industry in Nova Scotia. Our dedicated instructors and your on-the-job training in our two training salons, Aspirations Training Salon & Spa and Regency Training Salon & Spa will prepare you for a successful career as a hairstylist, aesthetician, makeup artist, or whatever you put your mind to.
Have you always dreamt of becoming your own boss? Maybe working solo with a very flexible schedule so you can travel as much as you want, or running a small business with a few employees? Or maybe you dream big – running an empire with multiple locations and employees all calling you the boss. There are lots of ways to get there but one sure fire industry that will let you have the freedom and skills needed to be the boss is the beauty industry.
Think about it; most salons and beauty bars are owned by trained aestheticians or hairdressers. These are people who have become the best at what they do and have made the leap to entrepreneurship.
What does being the boss look like?
There are so many ways that you can be your own boss in this field. Like we said before you can go big. Maybe you open a salon with six stations and hire six employees to fill them. Or maybe it’s a similar set up with a nail bar. If that becomes successful you open a second location, and maybe a third. The sky’s the limit! In a few years you can expand to hair accessories and maybe your own product line. If it was us we would build an empire and then go relax on a yacht somewhere while someone handles the day to day.
But if the yacht plan isn’t for you, there are many ways to be your own boss on a much smaller scale. Put a salon in your basement and welcome clients into your home. You can work as much or as little as you want. This is a great option if you have children that you want to be around for, or if you just want a really flexible schedule that can work around other priorities.
Or, you could also consider renting a chair in an established salon. In this model you pay a monthly fee to the salon owner for use of the space and then you welcome your clients into that salon but personally keep what you make. This also gives you a lot of flexibility and freedom, though the chair owner may have minimums on how much you work.
You could also say goodbye to the salon setting forever and go freelance. Maybe you build a business around helping brides, grads, and other VIP clients getting glammed for special events. This could be fantastic for hairdressers, make up artists, nail technicians, eyelash technicians, or pretty much anyone in the aesthetics industry. You could even work freelance for movies or television shows, glamming up the stars!
It’s time to change your life. It’s time for an education from CBBC Career College.
Our Faculty of Hair and Aesthetics has programs starting this fall and we would love for you to be in them. If you’ve ever considered a career in the field, there’s no better time than now to start!
