You will learn:

  • Lash removal
  • Tinting
  • Lash lifting
  • Maintenance

This program is great for those who are looking for a program to complete part-time. Our graduates are able to go on working in salons, aesthetics boutiques or become self-employed.   • Grade 12 or GED

  • Achieve a level 12 on Wonderlic Scholastic Level Exam (SLE)

  • Career Planning & Salon Business

    Students will be introduced to the outcome of successful career planning, and management of one’s own career and career goals, including:

    • History & career opportunities
    • Salon/spa business industry, ownership & operation
    • Life skills & human relations
    • Professional development
    • Communications
    • Job search & resume building
    • Job skills, sales and marketing
  • Chemistry

    In the following areas of instruction, students will gain an understanding of the Basics of Chemistry and its relevance in Lash Enhancements:

    • PH scale
    • Matter
    • Forms of matter
    • Physical change vs chemical change
    • Organic chemistry vs inorganic chemistry
    • Elements, atoms, molecules, chemical bonds & amino acids
    • Chemistry of cosmetics
    • Oxidation-reduction (redux) reactions
    • Pure substance vs physical mixtures
    • Solutions, suspensions, emulsions & surfactants
    • Chemistry as applied to all areas of eyelash enhancements
  • Cosmetology Association of NS Act & Bylaws

    Students will receive instruction in the following:

    • General knowledge of the Association’s Act through knowledge of the Bylaws
    • Understanding licensing
    • Knowledge of the objectives of the Association
  • General Anatomy & Physiology

    In the following areas of instruction, students will gain an understanding of the building blocks of the human body and how it relates to Eyelash Enhancements:

    • Define cells – function, structure & reproduction
    • Define tissue – identify the types of tissue & function
    • Name the major organs & their functions
    • Name the body systems and their functions
  • Electricity

    Students will gain an understanding of the Basics of Electricity and its relevance in Lash Enhancements:

    • Electrical current types
    • Electrical measurements
    • Electrical safety & safety devices
  • Eyelash Enhancement Systems

    This module provides basic knowledge and skills in the following areas of study:

    • Procedure(s) & draping
    • Eyelash systems
    • Lash removal
    • Tinting
    • Lash lifting
    • Maintenance
  • Hair Sciences - 8 hours

    This module provides basic knowledge and skills in the following areas of study:

    • Hair growth cycle
    • Contraindications
    • Proper & safe use and handling of supplies, equipment, tools & implements
  • Labs

    This module will focus on giving students opportunities to attend industry and manufacturer-related field trips, seminars and guest speakers. The hours of this module will be interspersed throughout the program.

  • OH&S

    Students will practice and gain basic knowledge of and certificates for:

    • First Aid/CPR
    • WHMIS
    • Occupational Health & Safety
  • On the Job Training - OJT

    OJT can take place at any Salon/Spa in NS currently registered and in good standing with the Cosmetology Association of NS. The host must agree to complete the training evaluation forms and a Specific Licence Holder who are willing to supervise and positively encourage the skills and abilities of the OJT participant. OJT will take place over a maximum of 4 weeks to complete the 100 hours of training. Program participants may, at the discretion of CBBC Career College, continue their course of study for 100 hours in the Cosmetology School in which they are enrolled.

  • Personal Development

    Students will receive instruction to develop foundations for maintaining a healthy mind & body in relation to Aesthetics:

    • Basic nutrition
    • Hygiene
    • Ergonomics
    • Physical presentation & professional image
    • Stress management, rest & relaxation, exercise
  • Salon Ecology

    The practice and comprehensive knowledge of infection control & universal precautions including, but not limited to: infection control principles & practices including provincial guidelines for cleaning, disinfection & sterilization, microbiology/bacteriology, viruses, parasites, infection & immunity.

  • Service Preparation - 28 hours

    This module provides basic knowledge and skills in the following areas of study:

    • Procedure(s) & draping
    • Client consultation
    • Proper & safe use and handling of supplies, equipment, tools & implements
    • One-time use vs disinfecting tools and equipment
  • Skin Sciences

    In the following areas of instruction, students will gain an understanding of skin and eye diseases and disorders:

    • Function of the skin
    • Skin disorders & disease
    • Eye disorders & diseases
