We’re absolutely thrilled to announce a new, 48-week program in Early Childhood Education (ECE). This exciting and door-opening program is a one-year version of the two-year ECE training that will provide you with all of the skills and experience needed in half the time of a traditional two-year program.

If you’re looking for new job opportunities (and who isn’t with COVID-19 running amuck in the job market?) then this program may be for you.

Of course, a love of children, the ability to think on your feet, and the ability to work in an active and dynamic workplace are also requirements. Sound like you? Then read on!

The Career

Early Childhood Educators work with children in their ‘early years’, generally between six weeks and twelve years old. It is your job and responsibility to help kids develop and learn. You support their emotional, cognitive, social, and physical needs while teaching them to develop skills that will last a lifetime.

In our program, you’ll learn to use holistic, play-based learning to create stimulating environments through natural discovery and invention. You’ll learn to value the social and cultural contexts of children, the importance of learning experiences, and authentic assessment practices. You will also have the opportunity to apply your newly learned skills throughout your practicums.

The Training

As we mentioned this program is 48-weeks of lecture-based learning but also  on the job! Our practicums are designed to get you the hands-on skills that you need to be a true success in our new field. Your practicum placement will be completed with our elite  industry partners throughout the HRM and greater Sydney area.

Opportunities

The world isn’t going to stop producing children any time soon and that means the need of Early Childhood Educators isn’t going anywhere! The Nova Scotia government views employment opportunities for Early Childhood Educators as ‘good’ (there’s a big smiley face next to that good on their website!). There are currently tons of job openings for ECE positions, even in this tough job market.

Graduates may obtain careers as a child care worker assistant, child care worker, daycare, daycare aide, daycare attendant, daycare coordinator, daycare helper, daycare supervisor, daycare worker, early childhood education worker, and early childhood educator.

You’ll also have the opportunity to run your own home-based daycare centre which is always cool (a new career and a cool new business? Yes please!).

Your daily tasks in these jobs will probably include:

  • Stimulating and assisting in the integral development of children’s skills.
  • Maintaining a caring, inclusive, safe, and hygienic environment.
  • Developing schedules and routines, all while promoting good behaviours and habits.
  • Tracking and reporting children’s progress and development, as well as their health, safety, and well-being.

So what are you waiting for?

If there was ever the perfect time to start a new career, this is IT! In 48 weeks you can be educated in a new field and be on your way to building a new career. Not just a job, but a career where you can build something important and help to shape the lives and minds of the next generation.

We would love to chat with you more about our exciting and dynamic Early Childhood Education program. To learn more and to connect with us, visit the program web page  here. We look forward to chatting with you more about this exciting  program (and your new career opportunities!).

What Our Graduates Are Saying

I think the thing that has stood out to me the most in the program is how much the teachers care about your success and how they work hard to create a positive environment to learn in. It’s really amazing! They really encourage all the students to celebrate each other’s successes and help each other out. I really struggled with the decision of which school to attend, and I know that I made the right choice.
