Language Proficiency

CBBC Career College will adhere to its Language Proficiency Policy when considering the recruitment of foreign applicants whose first language is one other than English:

English Proficiency Exemptions

You do not require a language score if you have completed at least two years in a secondary school, as recognized by CBBC Career College, where English is the primary language of instruction. Official documentation, however, is needed.

If you have completed at least 30 credit hours (or equivalent) at a post-secondary institution, as recognized by CBBC Career College, where English is the primary language of instruction, you do not require a language score. Official documentation is required.

Students who complete the required pathway/bridging programs at our partner language schools will meet the proficiency requirements for admission and are not required to provide an English test score.

ACLA – Students must complete ACLA’s Pathway Program – Level 7
ALCC – Students must complete ALCC’s University Bridging Program- UBP

Enrolment Requirements

Applicants wishing to enroll at CBBC Career College in a program of study, who have citizenship from a country or region whose official language is not English, must undertake a language proficiency test and meet or exceed the following test scores:

English Language Scores – (This is a general list; please note that certain programs may require higher scores)

International English Language Testing Systems (IELTS Academic Test) – 6.0 in each band (Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking)

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) – 80 on the Internet-Based Test (TOEFL® iBT), 60 on the Paper-Delivered Test, or 550 on the Paper-Based Test.

Canadian Test of English for Scholars and Trainees (CanTest) – 4.5.

Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) – Level 8

Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL) – 60.

CLLC University Pathway – Level 6

University of Michigan English Language Institute (MET) – 77.

Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE) – 55.

Duolingo – 115, with no subscore below 90

Please have official results sent directly from the testing body whenever possible. In particular, All IELTS and TOEFL scores should be sent directly to CBBC at . Language scores that have been sent by students may not be accepted.
