Language Requirements

Language Proficiency

English is the language of instruction and examination at CBBC Career College. You must demonstrate proficiency in the language to follow a postsecondary academic program. If English is not your first language, you must provide evidence of meeting the minimum scores below.

Minimum Scores Required:

6.0 in each band

TOEFL
80 on the Internet-Based Test (TOEFL® iBT)
60 on the Paper-Delivered Test
550 on the Paper-Based Test

115 with no sub-score below 90

Exceptions:

  1. You have successfully completed at least two (2) years in a program offered in English at a Canadian College.
  2. You can provide a certificate of completion from a recognized ESL School demonstrating an equivalency of required English proficiency. (i.e. ESL school equivalent of IELTS 6). CBBC’s language school partners that meet the required level include:
    • ACLA – Students must complete ACLA’s Pathway Program – Level 6
    • ALCC – Students must complete ALCC’s University Bridging Program- UBP
    • CLLC University Pathway – Students must complete CLLC’s Pathway Program -Level 6
  3. You have completed a minimum of two years of full-time academic study in an English language school located in a country where the dominant language is English. Please check the table below:
