Last winter we had the pleasure of chatting with Meaghan Anderson, a CBBC graduate who had also just returned for MORE! She graduated from our cosmetology-hairdressing program and enjoyed it so much, she was back taking her aesthetics training as well when we chatted with her!

If you ever considered a career in the beauty industry Meaghan’s story is one that will inspire you and worth a second read!

Q: So Megan, tell us a bit about your journey. What program did you initially do at CBBC and what are you working towards now?

Megan Anderson: I took the hairdressing program, and I graduated from that course in September. I recently passed my CANS exam (the Cosmetology Association of Nova Scotia exam that licenses cosmetologists)and now I am officially a hairdresser! Currently, I’m taking Aesthetics and plan to graduate in June of 2021.

Q: That’s a big commitment. We’re so happy that you’ve chosen to stay at CBBC and continue your education. What was it that initially drew you to Regency Training Salon and CBBC Career College?

MA: When I first started looking into colleges it was the location that drew me to CBBC. As I started inquiring and learning more about the school, I knew I wanted to attend. The people in administration were so nice and great to work with! When I visited the school I met Judy, the campus manager, and she was so bubbly and friendly. She made me feel so excited about starting the courses!

Q: What are you hoping to gain from your education?

MA: Well, I was fresh out of high-school when I started so I was looking for a career. Going into college was a huge change for me as a homeschooled student. The staff of CBBC were warm and welcoming and made the transition a smooth and pleasant one.

I also knew I wanted to get the best experience and education I could, and I can truly say I have gotten some of the best education from my educators. CBBC has provided me with the opportunities to kick start a great career in Cosmetology and I can’t wait to get started.

Q: So what’s next for you? Have you started working at all while you finish this second course or are you just looking forward to finishing both and starting your career?

MA: Well, my life actually hasn’t changed too dramatically since my first graduation because I headed straight into my second year of school focusing on Aesthetics. I am working part time at Creative Cuts during my off time from school though and  I love it.

CBBC gave me so many opportunities to build my portfolio and really set me up for success when I graduate. Special educators were brought in to teach in depth training on barbering, hair extensions, certain product lines, colour corrections, and many other things including some on-line courses.  Throughout the course we were giving business building opportunities that mimic what you will experience in the ‘real’ world and I know that they’ll serve me well through my career.

Q: What advice would you give to someone who is considering a program at CBBC Career  College?

MA: I would absolutely say go for it! If I had to choose again I would certainly choose CBBC. They are very good to work with, and the educators truly care about you. In some ways you become like a little family. Though you may not think of school as fun, there have truly been a lot of fun times throughout the course. It is an experience that you will remember for the rest of your life, and though there will be those difficult times, the good ones FAR outweigh the hard moments.

You can graduate with a new career  in less than a year!

CBBC is proud to offer a fun and supportive environment for our students so that learning can be a fun and rewarding experience. If you’re looking for a career in the beauty industry (or in business, healthcare, or education industries!) we’re here to help you TODAY!

What Our Graduates Are Saying

I highly recommend CBBC Career College to anyone interested in pursuing what they have to offer. They have gone far to support all the students in my class in pursuing their goals. I have been very satisfied with my experience at the college.
